Ruben Neves v Emi Buendia – Are the Gunners right to target the Wolves man, as rumours hot up ahead of possible move? By Oscar Haley This summer is perhaps Arsenal’s biggest in recent memory. For the first time since 1996, the club finds itself on the outside of European competition, with little in the way of saleable assets to improve a pandemic-hit transfer budget. In order to avoid falling behind the Premier League’s leading lights, Arsenal must improve their squad if they want to compete for silverware. Two players who have been mentioned of late that could help remedy this are Wolves’ Ruben Neves and Norwich City’s Emi Buendia. The latter it now seems is off to Aston Villa, leaving the Gunners to focus on Portuguese playmaker Neves. Is he the better fit for Mikel Arteta’s side? Why offloading the talented but fiery Matteo Guendouzi is the right move By Peter White As the dust settles on Arsenal’s lacklustre 2020/21 campaign at home and in Europe, plans are well underway to ensure such shortcomings don’t occur again during the impending season.  With the club having failed to qualify for continental competition for the first time in 25 years under his tutelage, boss Mikel Arteta is hard at work moulding a squad he believes is capable of rediscovering former glories.  One member of his team seemingly edging closer to the exit door is French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, who fell out of favour early into the Spaniard's reign.  After a season out on loan at Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, it is being reported the 22-year-old has agreed to sign for Marseille on a permanent deal, back in his homeland.  One stumbling block could prove to be the signing fee the Ligue 1 side are willing to pay, with Arsenal’s reasons for selling largely do with attitu...

Who else could Mikel Arteta lure to the Premier League if Arsenal fail to land Martin Odegaard this summer? By Adam Le Roux It’s hard to imagine this Arsenal team without Martin Odegaard pulling the strings in it right now, but that could be a distinct possibility if Real Madrid have their way this summer. The Spanish giants hold all the cards when it comes to deciding where the 22-year-old will be playing his football next season, with his future still up in the air with just a little over a month of the season remaining. The small matter of trying to attract Erling Haaland to the club is also on their mind, with the Borussia Dortmund striker reportedly saying he would want to share a dressing room with his compatriot at the Santiago Bernabeu. So if the worst comes to the worst and the playmaker isn’t going to be wearing the red and white of the Gunners, Mikel Arteta is going to be need someone with as much creativity and tactical guile to replace him. With the No.10 role in this team...
