Gunners abroad – a round-up of all Euros action involving Arsenal players

With just over a week of tournament action now in the books, we look at how Arsenal’s Euro 2020 representatives have performed so far.

Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney was one of Scotland’s stand-out performers, helping his side to an important 0-0 draw against England at Wembley.

Operating on the left-hand side of a back three, the 24-year-old helped to shut down England’s attack, with the hosts looking toothless for long periods of the match.

Having drawn against England and lost 2-0 to the Czech Republic, a game which Tierney missed through injury earlier in the competition, Scotland must beat Croatia on Tuesday if they are to progress.

And as one of Scotland’s most prominent players, he will be hoping to help Scotland reach the knockout stages of an international tournament for the first time ever.

Xhaka

Granit Xhaka

While he might not be an Arsenal player for too much longer following a mooted move to Roma, for now Granit Xhaka is still on the books at the Emirates.

Turning out for Switzerland, captain Xhaka has played all 180 minutes of their campaign so far.

In their opener against Wales, Xhaka and co drew 1-1 with Wales out in Baku.

Then, on Wednesday, they were powerless to stop Italy, who ran rampant in Rome to win 3-0 against the Swiss.

Much like Scotland, Switzerland must win their final game of the group stage against Turkey to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages.

And they will almost certainly be relying heavily on the contributions of their captain if they are to progress.

Saka

Bukayo Saka

Due to a wealth of attacking options out wide, Bukayo Saka has yet to feature for England at Euro 2020.
Despite an increase in size to the wider squad, matchday squads remain at 23, and Saka didn't even make the bench for the Scotland clash.
However, after England's lifeless performance he could suddenly find himself thrust into the spotlight for the final group game against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
Saka would bring some much-needed energy to a side that looked way off the pace.

Leno

Bernd Leno

Much like Saka, Leno also has to deal with the quality of those in front of him.
And with Manuel Neuer stood between the sticks for Germany, it’s hard to imagine Leno getting any game time at Euro 2020.
In their opening game, Germany lost 1-0 to world champions and tournament favourites France.
And as part of the ‘group of death’ they will need to produce positive performances against Portugal and Hungary in order to advance.
