Arsenal need Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back on top form as soon as possible

Which players need to up their game to help Arsenal get the season back on track?
Arsenal have been struggling to find form in recent weeks with the 2021/22 Premier League season now well underway.
The Gunners are rock bottom of the table after three defeats and no goals scored – the most recent being a 5-0 hammering by Manchester City, with a red card for Granit Xhaka sealing Arsenal’s fate.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be taking on newly-promoted Norwich at the Emirates on Saturday, who currently sit 19th having also lost all their matches so far.
As a handful of key players have been missing for all fixtures played thus far, the match will ensure there are no more excuses for Arsenal’s performance.
But which players need to up their game to get the Gunners back to winning ways?
Thomas Partey
Thomas Partey was signed by Arsenal for £45million in 2020 from Atletico Madrid but hasn’t really hit the heights he was expected to.
Having been plagued with injuries in recent months, including an ankle problem suffered against Chelsea at the start of August, Partey has been a key player missing from a weakened midfield.
He is yet to be confirmed against the Canaries and is thought to still be missing from training, but if he is able to play, Partey’s presence could be the deciding factor on the scoreline.
The Ghanaian has a history of returning too quickly and not making a proper recovery – something Arteta is likely to keep in mind going into Saturday’s fixture – but another spell on the sidelines could result in a fourth goalless scoreline for Arsenal.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Having been signed for a mega contract of £56million in 2018, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was supposed to be a golden hope for Arsenal – but recent months say otherwise.
A brilliant hat-trick against West Brom in the Carabao Cup at the back end of August had fans thinking he was back to his goalscoring antics, but it was all too good to be true as the Gabon international was practically invisible against Manchester City a few days later.
It is very possible that Aubameyang will be back on sensational form sometime soon, with the inclusion of Martin Odegaard key to get him scoring again.
It’s no secret that Aubameyang lacked a run of good form last season and was even struck down by Covid-19 in the first three weeks of this campaign.
Now fit and hungry for goals, he will surely be one to up his game to get Arsenal back on top of winning ways.
Kieran Tierney
Kieran Tierney was one of Arsenal’s best players last season but is yet to make an impact this time around.
The Scottish international looked unsettled playing at left back against Manchester City in Arsenal’s devastating 5-0 defeat, lacking his usual menace going forward while his defensive work was also sub-standard.
But Tierney managed to turn it all around during the international break, putting in an impressive showing in Scotland’s 1-0 win over Austria in their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
Many labelled him the best player on the pitch, and hopefully he will continue his form into Saturday’s fixture for the Gunners.
