International wrap-up – Gunners on tour

By Oscar Maung-Haley

We take a look at all the international action involving Arsenal players.

Kieran Tierney

First up is Scotland’s Kieran Tierney, who helped Scotland to an incredible 3-2 come from behind win over Israel that saw Scott McTominay net a 94th minute winner in Group F.

The Scots went behind on five minutes to an Eran Zahavi goal, before equalising through Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn just before the half-hour mark.

Mu'nas Dabbur restored Israel’s lead before Lyndon Dykes pegged them back in the second half to set up a nervy ending.

And Steve Clarke’s men, took the lead in the 94th minute through McTominay, who bundled in a late corner to send Hampden Park into rapturous scenes.

It was an important win for Scotland, who could guarantee a World Cup play-off place for Qatar 2022 with a win over the Faroes Islands on Tuesday and another against Moldova next month.

Bukayo Saka

BS

Star boy is up next.

Once again, Bukayo Saka impressed for England, helping them to a routine 5-0 away win over Andorra.
Starting on the right wing, Saka found the back of the net on 40 minutes, latching on to a wonderful ball into the box from Phil Foden to finish with aplomb.

It was his third goal for the senior side in just his 12th cap and sometimes it’s insane to remember that he’s only just turned 20.

The sky is the limit for Saka, who seems to have really carved out a place for years to come under Southgate.

Next up for England is a visit from Hungary on Tuesday night.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was unable to prevent Gabon from falling to a frustrating 3-1 loss to Angola in their Group F World Cup qualifier.

The result leaves Gabon bottom of the group having only picked up just one point from their opening three qualifiers.

Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey was on target for Ghana in their impressive 3-1 win over Zimbabwe.

Through three qualifiers, Ghana sit second in Group G, a point behind South Africa.

Partey will be hoping for the same result on Tuesday when they take on Zimbabwe again in their return leg group fixture.

Elsewhere…

MO

Bernd Leno was an unnamed substitute for Germany in their 2-1 win over Romania on Friday night.
He could feature against North Macedonia in their next qualifier, a game which Germany lost last time they faced the Macedonians in March.

Martin Odegaard played all 90 minutes in Norway’s 1-1 draw against Turkey.

Had they won, they would have moved level on points with the Netherlands in Group G who they take on next month in a World Cup qualifier crunch match.

Takehiro Tomiyasu was unable to prevent Japan from falling to 1-0 defeat against Saudi Arabia.

And in U21 action, Emile Smith Rowe started, while Folarin Balogun and Tyreece John-Jules came on off the bench in England U21s 2-2 draw with Slovenia.
