Leicester City v Arsenal Review

Leicester City v Arsenal Review

Arsenal's resurgence continued this weekend with a fantastic 2-0 away win against an improving Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Three points were far from guaranteed against the Foxes, who had been on a four-game unbeaten run before they clashed with the Gunners.
However, Emile Smith Rowe continued his rich vein of form to double the lead following Gabriel's fifth-minute opener.
The win moves Arsenal up to sixth and, for the first time this season, it looks like Mikel Arteta's side could challenge for a Champions League spot.
It's too early to say for sur, but if the Gunners can maintain this momentum and perform against the 'Top Six' sides, then they have every chance of qualifying for Europe this year.

Incredible defensive performances

It feels like goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale cemented himself as Arsenal's No.1 yesterday lunchtime, producing several outstanding stops.
The save from James Maddison's curling free-kick just before the break was fantastic but his all-round game was also superb.
In particular, Ramsdale's distribution was a significant source of strength for Arteta's side and hopefully it'll form a crucial part of the gameplan moving forward.
Gabriel's goal showed once again that he's happy to chip in going forward yet most importantly, he and Ben White were able to secure Arsenal's fourth clean sheet of the season.
Nuno Tavares impressed in place of Kieran Tierney and Arsenal can take a lot of positives from a clean sheet against a side with numerous goal threats throughout their side.
The Gunners need this defence to perform like this in the big games against Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
If the back four can do that, then the future is certainly beginning to look bright in North London.

Smith Rowe could be something special

After an incredible summer, Arsenal fans could be forgiven for putting a lot of the focus on Bukayo Saka heading into this season.
Smith Rowe burst onto the scene last season but he seems to have improved yet again over the past few months.
He's not just part of Arsenal's attack now; he's the catalyst of almost everything the Gunners do well.
He's part of an increasingly encouraging Gunners midfield that appears to offer a wide range of different strengths and threats.
When everybody is fit to play, there are few midfields as impressive as Arsenal's now, and two homegrown players are at the centre of that.

Still room to improve for the strikers

Don't get me wrong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette played well enough up front alongside each other against the Foxes.
However, at the same time, it wasn't a classic performance from either of the pairing.
The two strikers have had a resurgence of their own over the last month or two, and if Arsenal are going to think about shocking fans and pundits and sneaking into a top-four place this season, the high-profile duo need to fire consistently.
It's nothing to worry about just yet but until their patches of poor form are distant memories, fans will be hesitant to say that Aubameyang and Lacazette are back to their absolute best.
