Four Fulham players Arsenal should try and sign

By Jack Lacey-Hatton

Arsenal spiritedly maintained their perfect start to the new Premier League season on Saturday evening when they take on Fulham in a London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s team currently sit top of the table after an excellent start with four wins from four.

Watching the Arsenal at Bournemouth last weekend you would be hard placed to find positions in the team urgently needing an upgrade.

Reminiscent of the golden-era Wenger teams they were relentless and ruthless from the word go, dismantling their opponents in style with much of the hard work done inside the opening quarter of an hour.

However, the best Gunners teams from years gone by always added to the squad from a position of strength and fans will still be hopeful for further incomings before the summer transfer window closes.

With an eye on identifying who could assist in maintaining the brightest of starts, here are four Fulham players who the club may wish to consider shortlisting.

Kevin Mbabu - defender

Admittedly, this may be one for the future rather than the here and now, given Kevin Mbabu only arrived at Craven Cottage last month.

But the Swiss defender ticks a lot of the boxes that Arteta and Technical Director Edu look for when signing a defender.

He is comfortable on the ball, agile, a solid tackler and should be able to meet the physical demands of English football.

In his previous spell in the premiership with Newcastle United he wasn’t truly given a chance, albeit when he did play, the 22-year-old looked a real talent.

Mbabu has since gone onto develop his game with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

If he can prove his Premier League credentials with the Cottagers this season, he will definitely be one to keep on the club’s radar in the future.

Harry Wilson - forward

He didn't feature on Saturday evening due to his current injury, but when fit Harry Wilson is always a danger to defenders.

The Welsh wizard wasn’t able to make the breakthrough at Liverpool but has since taken his game to new levels and fought his way back to the Premier League.

A technically gifted winger, Wilson can play more as an inside forward when required and that could give Arteta a distinctively different option in the wide areas.

He may not appear an obvious addition but with Nicolas Pepe's departure from the club, Wilson could prove a smart buy once he gets back to full fitness.

Kenny Tete - defender

The flying Dutch full-back has proven to be one of Fulham’s most underrated players over the last few years.

A sharp tackler who is a handful when running forward on the overlap, don’t be surprised to see other Premier League clubs take notice of him sooner rather than later.

He has started the season in fine form, with an excellent display against champions Liverpool on the opening day capped off with a superb assist for forward Aleksandar Mitrovic.

If Tete continues to impress in the top flight his price tag will likely rise from the £3million Fulham paid Lyon.

Right-back is an area Arsenal should be looking to strengthen over the coming season and Tete should be high on their preferred list of targets.

Nathaniel Chalobah - midfielder

Probably not a signing for causing a storm on social media or record shirt sales at the club shop but Nathaniel Chalobah could be a shrewd addition to the Arsenal first team squad.

The Lily Whites midfielder is still trying to establish himself in the Fulham first team and was an unused substitute in their win over Brentford last time out.

But if he can get form and fitness back he would be a useful player in most squads.

Chalobah has the appeal of both versatility and being classed as a home-grown player, an important point when it comes to Arteta selecting his 25-man squad for the Premier League.

He hasn’t had the best of times in recent years, but if Chalobah can show his worth across a top-flight campaign with Fulham he could be a logical buy for the Gunners.
