With Arsenal closing in on that crucial fourth Champions League spot after emphatic wins over Chelsea and Manchester United, attention is already turning to the summer.
Mikel Arteta has won over the fanbase, got the Emirates roaring and turned things around on the field this season.
The Spaniard must now decide how best to bolster his playing resources once the transfer window opens.
And one man that has been linked with a switch to North London, is Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.
Reports in Germany have suggested that the Gunners are keen on the Austrian international who only signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga champions in August.
The 28-year-old also signed a four-year deal after arriving for 16million euros from RB Leipzig but could be available for a fee in the region of £13m.
Sabitzer has struggled to find regular minutes under the leadership of Julian Nagelsmann and could view the Emirates as a chance to relaunch himself on the European stage.
Rumours suggest Atletico Madrid may also be interested in luring Sabitzer away from the Allianz Arena but if Arsenal bank Champions League football that could clinch a deal.
Sabitzer is a versatile player who can cover a number of midfield roles even playing as a second striker or in a holding role.
He would provide great strength in depth for Arteta, especially when a return to the European stage brings with it plenty of extra midweek fixtures.
The 60-cap international has previously spoken about working on his ability off the ball and with Arteta’s desire to make his side press the opposition with purpose, it could be a match made in heaven.
In 2019, Sabitzer told bundesliga.com: “Playing without possession is a qualityI have. I've trained in that department long enough and I can do it well!
"With the ball at my feet is something else; an aspect which definitely has some potential for improvement. I’m on it!
“I want to continue to improve until I finish my career. I want to be able to one day say: 'I’ve tried everything; gave it my all and it has been a great career!'. That’s my goal.”
