Four Newcastle players Arsenal should try to sign

Arsenal’s hunt for the top four will look to get back on track on Monday, as the Gunners travel north to take on Newcastle United.

The Magpies have had a strong second half of the season under the guidance of Eddie Howe, alongside the addition of some new signings in January following October's takeover.

United currently sit 14th in the Premier League, compared to Arsenal’s fourth, but there are still a number of players that could be a good fit at the Emirates.

Callum Wilson

It is hardly news that Arsenal have a striker problem, needing to sign at least two in the upcoming summer transfer window.

For this reason, Callum Wilson could represent a clever option for the Gunners as they look to bolster their attacking ranks.

Wilson has shown he can perform at Premier League level, and while the 30-year-old would certainly not be brought in as first choice, he would certainly be one of the better back-ups in the league and provide a useful alternative option from the bench.

The former Bournemouth striker has struggled with injury and his age may be off-putting too but, alongside at least one other new striker, Wilson would certainly add quality to Arsenal’s front line.

Allan Saint-Maximin

One area Arsenal do have some depth is in wide areas.

Emile Smith-Rowe, Bukayo Saka, and Nicolas Pepe can all operate out wide but with Pepe a candidate to leave the Emirates this summer, Mikel Arteta may be once more looking to bolster the depth of his squad.

Saint-Maximin has become a fan favourite at St James’ Park with his mazy dribbling and electric pace but could be ready for a step up such is the quality the Frenchman possesses.

The 25-year-old does struggle with inconsistency, but could offer an exciting super-sub and squad rotation option for the Gunners as they look to fight on multiple fronts next term.

Bruno Guimaraes

Despite only arriving in the North East in January, Guimaraes has already won the hearts of the Toon army with his midfield performances.

The Brazilian has already netted four times in 15 appearances, showing why there was so much interest in his services while at Lyon.

Arsenal will likely need to bring in reinforcements in central midfield in the summer, and someone of Guimaraes’ quality would fit in well with Arteta’s style of football, though it would be unlikely that the 24-year-old would leave the Magpies after just half a season.

Kieran Trippier

A new right-back will certainly be close to the top of Mikel Arteta's summer shopping list, with Hector Bellerin and Cedric both likely to leave North London.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has done well there when called upon, though perhaps does not offer as much going forward as Arteta would generally like his full-backs to, and the Japanese international could also be utilised at centre-back, meaning a natural right-sided defender is needed.

Trippier, like Guimaraes, only arrived at the Toon in January but could well be tempted by a return to North London having departed Spurs in 2019.

The England full-back would certainly be an improvement, if only in the short-term, and would offer plenty in both attack and defence alongside a quality delivery from dead balls.

Tripper would be unlikely to leave Newcastle but perhaps the right offer could show him North London is red.
