Four Aston Villa players that Arsenal should try to sign

Image
By Oli Dickson Jefford Arsenal play Aston Villa tonight as the Gunners look to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season. Mikel Arteta’s side are the only team to win every match so far and are significant favourites against a stuttering Villa side. Villa have won only one match so far, losing the other three, and have been on a poor run of form across this season and last. However, Steven Gerrard’s squad features a significant number of quality players - some of whom have been linked to Arsenal in the past. Here are four players that Arsenal could consider  poaching from Villa Park  in the near future. Tyrone Mings A key talking point this season has been Tyrone Mings’ rather unceremonious dumping as Villa captain. The England international has also been benched a couple of times by Gerrard, with rumours circulating that all is not well between the two. Mings is widely considered one of the best defenders outside of the ‘Big Six’ and previously there have bee...

Who should Arsenal go after on Transfer Deadline Day

Image
Who should Arsenal go after on Transfer Deadline Day By Jonny Bray The summer transfer window closes on 1st September at 11pm, but there is still plenty of time to get important business done. Arsenal have enjoyed their best start to a Premier League season since 2004/05, when the Gunners won their opening five games before drawing 2-2 with Sam Allardyce's iconic Bolton side at Highbury. However, there are no delusions of grandeur amongst the Arsenal faithful. This side is not ready to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table. But they could be if Mikel Arteta, Edu and the Arsenal board play their cards right over the next 60 hours or so. Our starting XI is good enough, but the squad lacks depth in midfield, on the wing and up front. If Arsenal sign some top-quality cover over the coming days, then there is no telling what this team could achieve. With that in mind, here are the players Arsenal should go after on Transfer Deadline Day. Youri Tielemans After b...

Four Fulham players Arsenal should try and sign

Image
Four Fulham players Arsenal should try and sign By Jack Lacey-Hatton  Arsenal spiritedly maintained their perfect start to the new Premier League season on Saturday evening when they take on Fulham in a London derby at the Emirates Stadium.   Mikel Arteta’s team currently sit top of the table after an excellent start with four wins from four.   Watching the Arsenal at Bournemouth last weekend you would be hard placed to find positions in the team urgently needing an upgrade.   Reminiscent of the golden-era Wenger teams they were relentless and ruthless from the word go, dismantling their opponents in style with much of the hard work done inside the opening quarter of an hour.   However, the best Gunners teams from years gone by always added to the squad from a position of strength and fans will still be hopeful for further incomings before the summer transfer window closes.   With an eye on identifying who could assist in maintaining the brightest of starts...

Why did Nicolas Pépé fail at Arsenal?

Image
By Tom Masters Why did Nicolas Pépé fail at Arsenal?  Arsenal have been flying high this season and ahead of hosting Fulham at The Emirates sit at the very top of the Premier League table after three matches.  There is a feel good factor at the Gunners again after three commanding performances and comfortable victories over Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Bournemouth.  And with the transfer window coming to an end in just a week’s time, there is still yet more time for Mikel Arteta to recruit more talent to his already talented young squad.  But as ever, not everyone can be happy, and with rumours of Arsenal searching for another winger in the mould of Pedro Neto, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Yeremy Pino, one such player who is looking to leave is Nicolas Pépé.  It was announced on Thursday that Pépé would be heading to Nice on loan  from the Gunners, just three years after moving to North London for an eye watering £72 million from LOSC Lille.  Bu...

Who will be Arsenal's breakout star this season?

Image
By Oli Dickson Jefford Arsenal couldn’t have asked for a better start to the Premier League season. The Gunners are the only team to have won their opening three matches and not only have the results been encouraging, but the performances have been exceptional. Several players have performed incredibly well and there is certainly a real sense of optimism around the club. Last season, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe were the breakout performers that starred and won the hearts of fans at the Emirates. With a promising campaign underway, who will be Arsenal’s breakout star this season. William Saliba Perhaps no one has won over the Arsenal faithful as much this season as William Saliba has in the opening three league games. The French defender spent three seasons on loan and a breakthrough looked unlikely, but he has been given a chance and has absolutely excelled. Saliba has produced a string of stunning displays and the Arsenal fans were singing his name throughout the Gunners’ ...

Transfer profile: Pedro Neto

Image
By Jonny Bray Mikel Arteta has already said that Arsenal will only go back into the transfer market this summer to sign players of the highest quality.  It's been a productive window so far, with stars like Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko hitting the ground running.  The latest name in a long list of players to have been linked with a move to The Emirates is Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Pedro Neto.  The winger is Nicolas Pépé's replacement, with the Côte d'Ivoire winger reportedly on his way back to France after struggling to settle in North London.  But what would Neto bring to this Arsenal side, and is he worth the massive £50 million price tag currently being touted around in the newspapers?  What would he bring to Arsenal?  Neto is still young at just 22, and he has the potential to become a top Premier League player.  He is already a delight to watch, having proven his quality on the ball since joining Wolves from Braga back in 2019....
